Hey degens,
Trump just canceled strikes on Iran and floated that a deal on the Strait of Hormuz is close (for the 100th time). Normally, that's the kind of headline that sends risk assets flying. Oil dropped hard (Brent down over 5%, WTI under $80), stocks popped modestly... and Bitcoin? Barely blinked. Touched $63.7K, couldn't hold it, sitting back around $62.5-63K.
That muted reaction is the story this week. BTC's not trading off geopolitics anymore, it's trading off liquidity and rate expectations, and there's a full week of data about to test that.
What's actually on deck:
Monday: ISM Manufacturing PMI
Tuesday: June JOLTS job openings
Wednesday: ADP private payrolls + ISM Services
Friday: the big one, July jobs report
Fed held rates at 3.5-3.75% last week (9-3 vote), and June payrolls already came in soft (57K, with prior months revised down). If this week's data confirms a real slowdown, that's actually bullish for risk assets since it pressures the Fed toward cuts. If services/inflation data comes in hot instead, expect BTC to stay pinned. One good headline (like the Iran de-escalation) clearly isn't enough on its own anymore, it needs the whole week to tell the same story.

Also — Trump Media's bitcoin bet is basically dead.
They just moved another 2,628 BTC (~$165M) over to Crypto.com, leaving roughly 4,261 BTC in their wallets, which happens to match almost exactly what they've got pledged as loan collateral. In plain terms: their discretionary bitcoin stash is gone. They bought 11,542 BTC near the top at an average of $118K and have been quietly bleeding it out ever since, sitting on something like $318M in realized losses and $237M more unrealized. Whether this last move counts as a "sale" or just "custody" won't be clear until their next filing, but either way, the treasury bet didn't age well.
Bottom line: don't get too excited by single good headlines this week. The real signal is whether the whole data drip (PMI, jobs, payrolls) tells the same "slowdown" story by Friday. That's what actually moves this market right now, not diplomacy.
Not financial advice, just what I'm watching.
